On Friday, October 26th, occurred the death of John Richard Waller, at his home north of this city. The services were at the home, conducted by Rev. Evans, of the M. E. Church.

John R. Waller was born near Carrolton, Carroll County, Kentucky, on October 20, 1934. He came to Winnebago County, Illinois, in 1852. He was married to Mary Matilda Waller in 1865, and came to Floyd County, Iowa in 1872. Seven children were born to them, five boys and two girls, Elza, Nina, Leroy, Mark, Rowley, Naomi and Clay. Mark, the third son, died when two years old and was buried in Riverside cemetery.

J. R. Waller who has been a sufferer for some time from rheumatism which settled in his right limb, upon advise of his physician, had that member amputated above the knee Wednesday. Drs Coolidge and Hewitt, assisted by Dr. Blythe, of Nora Springs performed the operation. But he never rallied from the shock and at 12 o'clock last night death came to his relief. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Deceased has been for many years one of Floyd county's representative farmers. As a man he was honest, enterprising and industrious, and enjoyed the confidence of his entire acquaintance.

He leaves a family of six children, Elza and Roy, of St. Paul, engaged in the railway business, Rowley and Clay at home, and Mrs R. C. Webster, of Waverly. His widow lives after him.
