Johnson, Engebreth

JOHNSON - Engebreth Johnson was born in Ringsager, Norway, Dec 1, 1836. He came to the United States thirty-eight years ago and settled at Sun Prairie, Wis., and two years later he moved to Floyd county, north of Charles City, where he resided until his death.

He was married to Miss Alene Olson Moe in Norway March 1860. His wife died seven years ago. Six children were given them four of whom survive their father, Mrs. Julia Beyatt and Mrs. Carnell Weston of Niles, Mrs. Joanna Olson of Rudd and Mrs. Wm. O. Johnson of Floyd.

He died April 4 from the effects of a broken limb. He leaves fourteen grandchildren. He was a hard worker, an honest citizen, a good husband and a loving father. In his early life he had connected with the Lutheran church.

Funeral was held this morning at 1 o'clock at his late residence six miles north of the city conducted by Rev. N. Pye, D.D. of the M. E. Church.
