June 18, 1863
Died 25 May 1863 Sergeant A. R. Rhinehart of Co.H, 124th N.Y. Volunteers, died of wounds received at the battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia. The deceased was for some years a resident of this county, and while here won the esteem of his many acquaintances. Having returned to this native state on a visit to his friends, he there, prompted by a sense of duty, responded to his country's call by enlisting in it's service He has fallen fighting manfully the battles of freedom. While his numerous friends lament his early death, they have the gratifying intelligence that he died a devoted soldier, and a true Christian. The memories of our true patriots and while their bold cries to us for vengeance, let us renew our determination never to give up the contest, until traitors whether North or South, shall submit to the constituted authorities of the land or bite the dust.
