Deceased was born in Prague, Germany, March 12, 1824, and came to New York when 17 years of age. He was married December 3, 1856, to Miss Rhoda Herman. They moved to Iowa soon after, first locating at Waverly, from which place they removed to Charles City some twenty-five years ago. Mrs. Hecht died July 16, 1880. The remains were taken to Chicago Tuesday evening, where the funeral occurred yesterday at Graceland Cemetery. He was laid to rest beside his wife. The sons, Joe and Louis Hecht, and a nephew, Jacob Zeiner of Elma accompanied the remains to Chicago.
