COFFIN, Amanda C. (Allen)
COFFIN - At her home in this city, September 18, 1892, of heart disease, Mrs. Amanda E. Coffin, aged 56 years, 2 months and 24 days.
Mrs. Coffin was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Allen, and was born in Russell Town, Lower Canada, June 19, 1836. Two years later her parents removed from that place to Russell, St. Lawrence County, N.Y. In 1856 they moved to Charles City, Iowa, which has since been their home, and where Wm. H. Coffin and Amanda C. Allen were married December 30, 1857. Six children were born to them, five of whom are living, and residents of this place; Mrs. C. L. Morean, Mrs. Frank Pierson, Will J., Darwin D., and James C. A daughter, Mrs. Luella Babcock, died some years since, and Mrs. Coffin never recovered from the shock, and never ceased to mourn for the dear one by whose death the family circle was broken for the first time. The funeral took place yesterday, Rev. T. M. Evans conducting the services. A faithful wife and mother has gone to her reward.
