Joe A. Hart, 59, of Charles City, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Joe Hart will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City. Pastor Jim Beranek will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. at the Hauser Funeral Home Friday and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Joe Allan Hart was born April 19, 1954 in Charles City, Iowa, the son of William and Frieda (Bill) Hart. He received his education in Charles City graduating from Charles City High School in 1972. After graduation, Joe started working at White Farm until 1983. Then he began working at Armour-Eckrich in Mason City until 2009.

On June 1, 1974, Joe was united in marriage to Shari Derr. The couple made their home in Charles City and raised their family in the home built by Joe and his father. Joe was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

His interests included years of fishing with family and friends at various places in Minnesota and Canada, tending to his lawn and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed motorcycling and for many years he held the record for the quarter-mile, in the state of Iowa. Joe loved spending time with family, his dog Murphy and enjoyed his morning and afternoon McDonald's and Dave's coffee groups.

Living family members include his wife of 39 years, Shari of Charles City; two sons: Rob (Kathy) Hart of Council Bluffs and Tracy Hart of Iowa City; granddaughter, Abby Hart; mother, Frieda Hart of Charles City; two brothers: Mike (Charnel) Hart of Tiffin and Jim (Ruth) Hart of Farmington, Minn.; sister, Teresa (Ed) Hobert of Charles City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William; niece, Brieha Hart; father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Hazel Derr; and brother-in-law, Harlan Derr.
