Nora Springs, Iowa — Charles L. Wilson, 79, Nora Springs, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at his home.
Per Charles’ wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services are planned.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Charles Wilson Memorial Fund in care of his wife Bette, 1664 Echo Avenue, Nora Springs, Iowa.
Charles L. Wilson, son of Roy and Mae (Gallup) Wilson was born June 22, 1934, on the home in Rockford Township, Iowa. As a young adult, Charles moved to Idaho where he met the love of his life, Betty Nice and they were united in marriage in Filer, Idaho, on September 10, 1952. To this union, they would be blessed with five children, Regina, Roy, Janice, Rex and Charles Jr.
Charles was a laborer working in Idaho before moving back to Iowa in 1958. He began working at Decker and Sons Meat Packing Plant, later known as Armour for many years, before taking an early retirement at the age of 50. Charles and Bette made their home in Nora Springs in 1964 where they have lived for over 49 years.
Charles was an avid fisherman and camper. He loved making casino runs when possible and helped Bette tend to their garden.
He is survived by his wife, Bette Wilson, Nora Springs; children, Regina DeMaris, Mason City, Roy (Lorie) Wilson, Rockford, and Janice (Kevin) Hochstein, Mason City; grandchildren, Robbie (Merideth) DeMaris, Nora Springs, Jamie (Bobbi) DeMaris, Mason City, Kellie DeMaris, Mason City, Shawn (Amber) Wilson, Mason City, Brandy (Terry) Woods, St. Ansgar, Iowa, Mindy Prazak, Mason City, Jeremiah (Krista) Prazak, Mason City and Daniel (Erin) Prazak, Gilbert, Minn.; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, brothers, Larry (Norma) Wilson, Idaho, Don (Mary) Wilson, Rockwell, Paul (Sharon) Wilson, Crescent, Iowa, and his sisters, Marilyn Ingersoll, Mason City and Janice Sheldon, Clear Lake along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Rex and Charles Jr., brother, Junior, and his great-grandson, Riley.
