Charles Colvin, 74
Funeral services for Charles H. Colvin, 74, retired brick mason, were held Monday afternoon at the Major Memorial Funeral Home in Mason City. The Rev. Vern Prugh, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Marble Rock, officiated.
Burial plans were changed to Monday from Saturday afternoon because of the week-end storm.
Mr. Colvin died Tuesday afternoon at the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City. He had lived in Mason City a number of years but for the last twenty years had made his home west of Marble Rock.
He was born March 12, 1886, at Waterloo, Iowa, son of Hiram B. and Lillian [Towner] Colvin. He was married to Bernice Kinney of Marble Rock on December 28, 1941, at Keokuk.
For many years he had worked as a brick mason in and around Mason City. He was a member of Bricklayers Local 21 and IOOF Lodge 224, Mason City.
He is survived by his wife, a sister, Lucille Fergerman of Seattle; and two brothers, Alvan J. Colvin of Seal Beach, California and Blaine G. Colvin of Pasadena, California. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Note: Charles was first married to Mabel Ellen Quackenbush, daughter of Jess and Sarah Quackenbush of Vinton, Benton Co., Iowa. They resided in Waterloo until sometime after 1915 when they moved to Mason City where Mabel died in 1932.Credit: J. K. Erickson and Carol Page Tilson
