RUDD--Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic church in Rockford for John Schmitten, 66, of Rudd, who died Thursday in Mason City at the Mercy hospital where he had been a patient since Sunday, after suffering a stroke; burial in Evergreen cemetery at Rudd; born at New Ulm, Minn., but had spent most of his life at Wall, S.D. where he worked as a carpenter; moved to Rudd in 1945; married Kitty Bloodgood in 1909; leaves widow, one daughter, Mrs. B.L. Thompson, of Rudd, and a son, Carroll Schmitten, a World war II veteran.
