Marles M. Park, 93, formerly of Charles City, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Officiating will be the Rev. Rusty Van Wey of First Wesleyan Church, Charles City. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Marles Martha was born on October 19, 1919, at Wellsburg, the daughter of Charles Jasper and Martha Wilhelmina (Pagel) Eygabroad. She moved to Charles City in 1932. There she met and fell in love with her husband Eldon C. Park and they were united in marriage on November 5, 1938, in New Hampton. To this union was born two sons. She worked along side her husband doing the laundry at the St. Charles Hotel until the tornado's struck Charles City and destroyed the Hotel. She then was a waitress at the Checker Board, Don's Cafe and the hill Top restaurants. She babysat area children during the 70s and 80s which led her to becoming one of the Foster Grandparents for kindergarten and first graders. She would make dolls, do yarn crafts, embroidery and quilting, and enjoyed playing cards on Saturday nights with relatives.

She and her family were members of the Methodist Church until it was destroyed by the tornado and then attended and became longtime members of the First Weslyan Church.

Marles is survived by her two sons Kenneth E. and his wife Roberta Park, Golden, Colorado; Virgil D and his wife Virginia, Rowan, seven grandchildren, Brenda Schmitt, Stacey, Barbara, Juli, and Amy Park, Tracy Lindloff, and Scott Park, seven great-grandchildren, Megan, Brent, Alex, Tyler, Parker, Asia, and Lilah.

She was the last survivor of her family of seven, being preceded by her parents, five brothers Clyde, Floyd, William, Harold, Clarence and one sister Marion M. Cross, along with her husband Eldon on February 13, 2008.
