James ‘Jack’ Frascht

James “Jack” Frascht, 84, of Charles City, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Cedar Health in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Jack Frascht will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday where the Knights of Columbus will lead the Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

James Joseph Frascht was born September 24, 1928, in Floyd County, Iowa, the son of John Joseph and Dorothy (Dickoff) Frascht. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1946. On October 12, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marian Jacobson. They farmed all their lives north of Charles City. Jack was a member in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge and a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge where he served as secretary and governor for several years. He enjoyed playing cards, gaming and animals of all types. Jack was known for his daily trips to the elevator to talk with his friends. Family was very important to Jack and he looked forward to sharing life’s experiences with them.

Living family members include his wife, Marian Frascht of Charles City; three children, Dennis (Pat) Frascht of Alva, Oklahoma, Rick (Cynthia) of Charles City and Linda (Rick) Johnson of Littleton, Colordo; four grandchildren, Shannon (Tami) Frascht, Sonja (Neal) Williams, Rodney (Amy) Frascht and Melissa (Dan) Ashley; six great grandchildren, ShiAnne, Emma Rae, Blake, Brady, Chloe and Colton; brother, Russell (Sylvia) Frascht of Charles City; and a sister-in-law, Pat Frascht of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great granddaughter, Rachel Frascht; and a brother, Kenneth Frascht.
