WILLIAM BORTZ FUNERAL HELD
Rudd Resident, 56, Lived All His Life in Same Vicinity
RUDD--Funeral services for William Bortz, 56, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. H.A. Sinning, pastor of the Eden Presbyterian church, and the Rev. S. J. Baldwin, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge.
Mrs. William Hans, Mrs.I.W. Edie, I.O Bartz and P.C. Stalker sang "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Going Down the Valley" with Lois Stalker as accompanist. Pallbearers were Fred LaCoste, William Stiles, Paul and Andrew Phillipp, Arthur Bornstein and Lawrence Marth. Flower committee: Mrs. W.J. Kollman and Mrs. Andrew Phillipp. Burial was in the Rudd cemetery.

William G. Bortz was born near Rudd on July 6, 1883, and lived all his life in this vicinity. He was married to Mattie Muller at Rudd on Nov 20, 1907. Mr. Bortz had a severe illness in 1924 from which he never fully recovered and the last two years he spent much of his time under a doctor's care.Last winter he sought relief in the hospitals at Osage and Rochester, Minn., and returned seemingly improved. He died suddenly of heart disease Sunday evening.

He is survived by his wife and three children. Mrs. Mathilda Schmidt, Alvin Bortz and Mrs. Doris Brandau, two brothers, Herman of Rudd and Fred of Waverly, and five grandchildren.
