Mrs. Dean, Resident of Rudd All Her Life, Dies at Charles City

RUDD--April 18, Mrs. Kathryn Dean, 60, died Tuesday evening at the Cedar Valley hospital where she was taken last Thursday afternoon. She was in bed eight weeks and ill much longer than that with complications. Born six miles east of Rudd she lived in Rudd and vicinity for years in her father's home, caring for her mother until her death and since that keeping the home for her 93 years old father, Rudd's only living Civil war veteran.

The body was taken to the Martin and Sheckler funeral home in Nora Springs but no definite funeral arrangements have been made. Besides her father, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Warren Mathers, six grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Verne Robeson and Mrs. Ida Earnist, and two brothers, Otho J. and Fred E., all of Rudd.
