Margaret L. Squier

Funeral services for Margaret L. Squier, 83, formerly of Rockford, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, 21 Third Street NW, Rockford, Iowa with Pastor Judy Wooton officiating.

Margaret L. Squier was born on February 1, 1929, in Bassett, Iowa, the middle of five children born to David and Lydia (Schoonver) Gagnon and passed away on December 16, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines of heart complications.

Margaret was cremated at her request. The family moved to Clear Lake when Margaret was a young child. She attended public schools graduating in 1947. Margaret worked at a grocery store while she attended school and following graduation. She was employed by the Marigold Dairies in Mason City as a bookkeeper where she met Ron. Margaret and Ron married in 1959. Margaret worked for Jack McNider, as his business secretary, until his death when she retired.

The couple moved to Ankeny to be closer to their daughter, Marcia. Margaret and Ron went to many Navy reunions and trapping conventions both at the State and National level. Margaret enjoyed her AHEPA apartment friends, church friends, the monthly get together of the "girl's of 47," and their many trapping gang friends nation wide.

Margaret had a great memory for names, birthdays and dates.

She is survived by her husband Ron; daughter, Marcia and granddaughter, Danielle all of Ankeny; a brother, Dave and his wife Loreen of Clear Lake; many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Ronda, in 1996; her parents; one brother, Henry; two sisters: Mary (Ed) Purcel and Lucy Ingham.
