Date Of Death: May 24, 2013Lenore Schlader, 94, of Rockford, Iowa, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, Iowa.
A funeral Mass for Lenore Schlader will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford. Monsignor Walter Brunkan will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.
Friends may call at Holy Name Catholic Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday where there will be a Scriptural Wake Service followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church an hour prior to the service.
Lenore Isabel Elbert Schlader was born October 9, 1918, at Whittemore, the daughter of Gregory and Dora (Gerber) Elbert. She graduated from Presentation Academy in Whittemore in 1936 and from Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines in 1940.
On April 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Jerome N. Schlader at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Lenore worked as a nurse in various capacities at nursing facilities. She was also a devoted farm wife and mother. Lenore was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. Her interests included fishing, gardening, needlework, gaming, reading, canning, baking and cooking. Family was so important to Lenore and she looked forward to sharing life with them.
Living family members include her husband, Jerome N. Schlader of Rockford; five children: Stephen Schlader of Rockford, Michael (Margaret) Schlader of Rockford, Joel (Nancy) Schlader of Dumont, Jerome H. (Karen) Schlader of Rockford and Mary Kay Schlader of Rockford and friend Dennis Fulk of Rudd; 11 grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Linda Schlader; three brothers, Herman, Gregory and Donald Elbert; and four sisters, Margaret Woodcock, Lauretta Leonard, Agnes Heddinger and Hildred Swaroff.
