Gustav “Gus” Draheim – March 9, 1876 – April 13, 1963

GUSTAV DRAHEIM

Charles City – Funeral services were Monday at the Grossann-Hage Funeral Home for Gustav (Gus) Draheim, 87. He died Saturday at the Cedar Valley Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital Friday morning from the Stratton Nursing Home where he had been a resident since December 1956. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. He was a retired farmer.

Born in Berlin, Germany, March 9, 1876, he was the son of John and Marie Voss Draheim. He came to the United States in infancy. He received his education in Charles City.

On November 19, 1902, he was married to Minnie Niemann, in the St. John Lutheran Church here.

Survivors include a daughter; Mrs. Leonard Tjaden, rural Charles City; three grandchildren; two brothers; Carl, Nora Springs; and Ed, New Hampton; and a sister; Mrs. Anna Miller, Charles City. He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters and a grandchild.
