Dorothy Bennett, 91, of Charles City, died Wednesday April 10, 2013, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services for Dorothy Bennett will be held 1.30 p.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Gordon Berryman of Howardville Wesleyan Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

The family will greet friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time.

Dorothy May Hannam Bennett was born January 18, 1922, at Maywood, Illinois, the daughter of James and Ethel (Erickson) Hannam. In 1940 she graduated from Osage Community School. On August 22, 1950, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Bennett at Osage. In her early years she worked as an operator for Northwestern Bell in Osage and then worked with her husband in the farming operation. Dorothy was a member of Howardville Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday School, had served on the Local Board of Administration, was active in the Wesleyan Women and known as the "craft lady" for Bible School. She liked crafting, looked forward to entertaining and having fellowship with family and friends.

Living family members include several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth on June 28, 1987; four brothers, Herbert, James, Robert and Arthur Hannam; and four sisters, Isabell Tylman, Elizabeth Swanson, Helen Johnson and Alice Hall.
