Robert B. Sutton, 88, of Medford, Ore. passed away peacefully April 3, 2013 at the Providence Medford Medical Center.

Born in Nora Springs, Iowa, he was the son of the late Earl Albert and Minnie Catherine Sutton. He attended Nora Spring High School and graduated from the University of Iowa, Radiologic Technology Program, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Cedar Valley Hospital, Charles City, Iowa.

He entered the United States Armed Forces, Army, A Company, 30th Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division in 1943, Rock of the Marne, San Francisco, "Franciscian" Unit. A highly decorated World War II Veteran with three Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, Silver Star, Combat Infantry, Bronze Arrow Heads for the battle fields of Anzio and Southern France, Presidential Unit Citations and French Decorations Fleur de Guere, and served combat missions as a Squad Leader and light machine gunner in the European Theaters: Northern Africa, Anzio, Italy, and Southern France.

He moved to Southern Oregon in 1947 with his wife to begin his career at the historical Medford Community Hospital and the Rogue Valley Medical Center working as Chief Diagnostic Radiological Technician for 40 years, retiring in 1988.

Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather, avid hunter, and fisherman. He loved the ocean and rivers, sports: football, baseball, bowling, and winter Olympics, loved to cook and garden.

He was a member of: Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Oregon and American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the Elks Club, and the Knights of Columbus where he was an avid team bowler.

He is survived by his wife, Aline Sutton; son, Craig Sutton (wife Vickie) of Medford, Oregon; daughters, Debbie Sutton, Jan Sutton of Northern California, and Mary Ann Hainline (husband Jathan) of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Jessie Sutton Lockwood of Central Point, Oregon, Justin Sutton of Gold Hill, Oregon, and Marissa Gwynn of Boise, Idaho; sisters Joyce M. Hartwell of Nora Springs, Iowa and Shirley L. Madsen of Mason City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond A. Sutton and Dale E. Sutton of Mason City, Iowa.

Prayer service is Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 517 W 10th St., Medford, Ore. The burial with full Military Honors is at 1:00 p.m. at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Charitable donations may be made in his name to Saint Vincent de Paul.
