TWO OLD RESIDENTS PASS AWAY

The community was saddened Tuesday when word was received from Waterloo of the death of Mr. Willard Bucklen Sr. and Mrs. Sarah Rosenkrans, both old residents of this community.

Mr. Bucklen came to Marble Rock in the early days of its history and settled on a farm two miles to the north. Here he lived for many years and prospered. Here his children were born and reared. Later he moved into town and enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He was widely known throughout the country and state, having taken an active interest in political matters and was a leader in the democratic party.

Mr. Bucklen has been in rather poor health during the summer and about three weeks ago went to Waterloo where an operation was performed for gallstones from which time he gradually failed until the end came Tuesday.

The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 1:00 at the Christian Church.

Mrs. Rosenkrans, widow of L.W. Rosenkrans, has made her home on the farm one mile north of Marble Rock for years. Being of a genial, sunny disposition she was a general favorite among her friends and neighbors. She has not been in the best of health for a number of months but her condition was not considered critical until a week ago Monday when she was taken seriously ill and failed rapidly, her live passing out Tuesday as stated above. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church Friday at 2:00 o'clock.
