Rose Ann (Smedley) Bach – March 14, 1933 – May 16, 2011
Rose Ann Bach, 78, of Center Point, died Monday, May 16, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Hoover Church in rural Troy Mills. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; two sons, Byron (Marta) Bach of Cedar Rapids and Roger Bach of Center Point; four grandchildren, August Bach, Jeanne Briggs, Charlie Bach and Kevin Bach; nine great-grandchildren, Valerie Whelan, Dakota Bach, Dustin Bach, Lane Bach, Ethan Briggs, Sam Briggs, Colton Bach, Bryar Bach and Rylie Kuhn; two brothers, Ron (Esther) Smedley of Independence and Laverne (Theresa) Smedley of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; a sister, Shirley White; an infant son, Carl; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Bach.
Rose Ann was born March 14, 1933, the daughter of Rev. Ralph and Augusta (Schrage) Smedley in Charles City. She graduated from Troy Mills High School, where she had been class president. On November 29, 1951, she married Cecil “Jack” Bach at Hoover Church. She lived in Florida for two years as a Navy wife and started farming in Linn County in 1955 with her husband. She owned and operated Bach Health Food Store, New Leaf Health Food Store and the Health Hut on 1st Avenue.
Rose Ann gave her heart and life to Jesus at 4 years old. She was a member of Hoover Church for 61 years where she was Song Leader and Sunday School Teacher. Rose Ann also drove motor home support on tractor ride WMT for 11 years. She was a 50 year member of the Troy Mills Legion Auxiliary.A memorial fund has been established in memory of Rose Ann.
