Charles City - Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hauser funeral home for E. G. Waid, 87, who died Monday at his home at 806 Howard Street, after being critically ill the past week following a heart attack. He had been in failing health the past six years. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

He was born May 2, 1866 in Dundee, Fayette County, the son of Samuel and Frances (Hutchinson) Waid. He married Minnie V. Rowley on July 30, 1893 in Charles City. The Waid family lived on their farm in Cedar township for 45 years, then moved to Charles City seven years ago following Mr. Waid's retirement. He was a member of the Woodman Lodge and First Christian Church.

He leaves his widow, Minnie; six daughters: Mrs. Carrie Picken, Mrs. Phyllis Morse, both of Charles City; Mrs. Bernice Lack, Orchard, Mrs. Thelma Barth, Greene; Mrs. Hazel Finn, Geneva, N.Y.; Mrs. Doris Darnell, Challenge, Calif.; three sons: Sam and Clyde Waid, both of Charles City, and Earl Waid, Floyd; 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; one brother, Harley Waid, Spokane, Wash; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Ponto and Mrs. Herman Ponto, both of Charles City.

His parents, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
