Charles City - Cleola Morgan, 94, of Charles City died Monday, September 24, 2012, at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Church of Christ in Colwell. Pastor Debora Lincoln will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Cleola Emily Chapin Morgan was born April 11, 1918, on the Chapin Farm in rural Floyd County, the daughter of Frank E. and Flavia (Cagley) Chapin. She attended country school and graduated from Colwell High School in 1936.

On October 7, 1938, she was united in marriage to William Morgan in Charles City. She spent most of her married life on the farm where she grew up, moving to Charles City in 1993. She was a member of Colwell United Church of Christ for all her life, and served as pianist, Sunday School Treasurer, and active in Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed sewing, was an avid reader and letter writer, and often wrote poetry, as well as having a flower garden as she loved flowers.

She is survived by three children, Roger (Bonnie) Morgan of Charles City, Ellen Baker of Charles City and Bonnie (David) Elliott of Nokesville, VA; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William on September 2, 1996; a step-grandson, Dale Whitmarsh; a great-great-granddaughter, Morgan Emily Parker; and a brother, Jim Chapin.
