Eugene D. "Gene" Geilenfeld, 63, of Rudd, Iowa, died on Saturday, June 1, 1991, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa, following a heart attack.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Rockford, with the Rev. C. Clarkson officiating. Graveside services were held on Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Eugene was born on February 11, 1928, at Algona, a son of Godfrey and Florence (Burtis) Geilenfeld. He was a graduate of Burt High School and Upper Iowa University, Fayette. He married Ruth Anderson, November 11, 1948, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua.
He was a high school teacher and coach for 36 years. He taught at Rockford and most recently at Northwest Webster High School, Barnum, until retiring in 1988. Throughout his career he coached several boys and girls sports, including two state tournament girls basketball teams at Rockford. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his mother Florence Geilenfeld, Clear Lake; his wife Ruth Geilenfeld, Rudd; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Linda) Schaefer, Mason City; one son, Steve Geilenfeld, San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Joyce Mohr, Clear Lake; and one brother Allen Geilenfeld, Ventura.
He was preceded in death by his father, Godfrey Geilenfeld.
