Hazel Esser – December 2, 1908 – May 12, 1927

MISS HAZEL ESSER DIES

Hazel Esser was born December 2, 1908, at the home of her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. George Esser west of Marble Rock. She passed away at the Colonial hospital at Rochester, Minn., May 12, 1927.

The whole community was shocked and saddened when the message was received early Thursday morning announcing her death.

Hazel had been a very ambitious girl and always got the best out of everything she undertook. She was the honor graduate of the class of 1926, Marble Rock High School. She was also a worker of the B.Y.P.U. while she attended her school term here. She took a teachers normal training course last fall at Cedar Falls, then started to teach the spring term in the Esser School northwest of Marble Rock. She taught several weeks until she was compelled by ill health to give up her school duties. She suffered for ten weeks with out being able to get relief. At last she was taken to Rochester, Minnesota, where an x-ray was taken which showed that a tumor on the brain was the cause of her death.

She is survived by her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. George Esser, one sister, Mrs. Clyde Thieman and two brothers, John and Wilbur, and other relative and a host of friends.

Hazel was beloved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed during the years to come.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at Rockford Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor Rev. Weed. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery at Rockford.
