Elmer Leland Witzel – April 21, 1887 – March 14, 1951

FLOYD FARMER DIES SUDDENLY

Charles City – funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Rudd Methodist Church for Elmer Witzel, 63, who died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at his farm home, 2 ˝ miles northwest of Floyd. The Rev. F. M. Bell, assisted by the Rev. H. F. Mercer, of Charles City, will officiate, and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Rudd. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City,u ntil 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Mr. Witzel’s death was attributed to a heart attack. He had been in ailing health for about 3 years since he suffered an earlier attack.

Mr. Witzel was born April 21, 1887, in Ulster Township, son of John and Wilhelmina Anding Witzel. He was married Mary 21, 1912, to Pearl Mae Gast.

A lifelong resident of Floyd County, he had lived near Floyd since 1934.
Survivors include two sons, Howard, who lives south of Charles City, and Hubert, who lived with his father, and 3 grandchildren.

Also surviving are the following 5 sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Lena Sergeant; Mrs. Ella Witzel, both of Rudd; Mrs. Clara Robeson and J. M. Witzel, both of Charles City; Mrs. C. E. Sellon, Nora Springs; Wilbert Witzel, Rockford; and Mrs. Calia Miller, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
A daughter, Leota, died in 1937.
