AUGUST GELHAUS DIES AT ROCKFORD; RITES SATURDAY

Rockford – August Gelhaus, 88, died Wednesday evening after being in failing health the last eight years.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist church here. The Rev. George Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with Weaver Funeral Home in charge.

Born April 10, 1874, in Ulster Township, he was the son of August and Wilhelmina Winter Gelhaus. He farmed a number of years and then was employed by Stuben Hardware Store here. His wife died in 1947.

Surviving are two sisters; Mrs. Lydia Pfundheller, rural Rockford; and Miss Mynne Gelhaus, Charles City. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
