Donald D Norby – September 19, 1923 – July 24, 2004

Norby, Don, 80, died July 24, 2004, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center. He was born in 1923 in Nora Springs, Iowa, and married Lorraine Halverson in 1945 at McFarland Lutheran Church, McFarland, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sigurd Norby and Adella (Dahley)Norby-Benz-Kerr; his sister, Dorothye Oleson and his brother, Sid Norby.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; sons, Greg (Susan) Norby of Plano, TX, Jeff (Gale) Norby of Buford, GA, and Scott (Diana) Norby of Wichita, KS; 7 grandchildren, Erin, Nicholas, Matthew, Drew, Ethan, Andrea and Evan; special nieces, Sharon (Larry) Anderson of Austin, MN, Janet (Scott) Petersen of Mason City, IA and Jean Oleson of Aliso Viejo, CA; sister-in-law, Kathleen Norby of Mesa, AZ and brother-in-law, Bill Oleson of Mason City, IA.

After serving in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II, Don graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics. He and

Lorraine were married almost 59 years and spent most of their lives in Wichita.

He valued his colleagues and friends at Boeing where he worked as an Engineering Manager for over 30 years. Don was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Wichita since 1954. His love for church, family and friends were an important part of his life. He was involved in Boy Scouts and with his encouragement all three sons achieved the level of Eagle Scout. Don was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Viewing will be 12 to 1 p.m.; service 1 p.m. both today at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1101 N. River Blvd, Wichita, Ks 67203. A funeral service will be held Thursday at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home, McFarland, WI. Thanks and appreciation to Pastor Peter Jacobson and Pastor Jim Davis for their spiritual guidance and support. Memorials may be given to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Resthaven Mortuary.
