WOMAN DIES OF ASPHYXIATION
SERVICES WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY FOR MRS. AMELIA WOBITH

Charles City – Mrs. Amelia Wobith, 77, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Cedar Valley Hospital where she had been taken Friday for treatment.

Mrs. Wobith, who lived on the same farm as her son, 8 ˝ miles southwest of Charles City, was found by her daughter-in-law late Friday afternoon, when she had been overcome by smoke. She had apparently put blankets over a room heater to warm then and was overcome by the resulting smoke, although there was no fire in the blankets. She never regained consciousness and death was attributed to asphyxiation.

Two sons, Henry and Ed Wobith, and a daughter, Mrs. Walter Braend, all of Charles City, survive.

She was the widow of Herman Wobith, who died in 1921. Mrs. Wobith came to Floyd County from Germanh at the age of 17, so had been a resident in this vicinity for 60 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held at the Hauser Funeral Home here at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Walter Fritschel of St. John’s Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be made beside her husband in Riverside Cemetery.
