CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Janet Meerdink, 72, of Charles City, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at Bethany Alliance Church. Pastor Kent Sovine will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Janet Louise Meerdink was born July 11, 1939, in Floyd County, the daughter of Floyd and Gladys (Smith) Meerdink. She received her education at Charles City. Janet worked for many years at Comprehensive Systems. She was a member of Bethany Alliance Church. Her interests included knitting and attending family gatherings. Janet will be remembered as a person who always liked to help people.

Living family members include two brothers, Earl (Barb) Meerdink of Charlotte, Vermont, and Paul (Marian) Meerdink of Charles City; a sister, Carol (Garry) Brown of Charles City; 10 nieces and nephews, Tammy (Terry) Frascht, Troy Meerdink (special friend Kim Woolworth), Christine (Jack) Kennedy, Amy (Andy) Engberg, Joel (Carin) Meerdink, Beth Meerdink, Melissa Solak, Gina (Scott) Phearman, Angela Sinnwell, Kelly (John) Powell and Shawna (Kevin) Davis; and 15 great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
