CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Ronald "Ron" Vance, 57, of Charles City, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at his home.

Funeral services for Ron Vance will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Sister Diana Blong, pastoral associate at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Friday and an hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Ronald Gene Vance was born July 17, 1954, at Charles City, the son of Clair and Jean (Stock) Vance. He graduated from Charles City High School, where he was on the wrestling team. On October 27, 1973, he married Debra Meek. They later divorced. Ron worked for a brief time at Oliver/White Farm Corporation. He farmed all his life east of Colwell both grain farming and raising all types of livestock. His interests included watching sports especially wrestling, and he attended the national wrestling tournament yearly. He was an avid fan of the Hawkeyes and Twins. For many years he was the 4-H leader of the Colwell Comets. He enjoyed golfing and will be remembered as someone who could do anything and was willing to help anyone. Ron always looked forward to spending time with and sharing his life with his family. The grandchildren had a special place in his heart and he especially enjoyed watching their sports activities.

Living family members include three children, Michelle "Shelly" (Cory) Anderegg, Scott (Stacey) Vance and Shaun (Kim) Vance all of Charles City; six grandchildren, Colton and Keely Anderegg, Alyvia, Addyson, Isabelle and Madison Vance; his mother, Jean Vance of Charles City; three brothers, Dennis (Diane) Vance, Duane Vance and Gary (Wendy) Vance all of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.
