Calvin L. Hubbard, 49, born Mar 1851, in New York living with wife, Carrie, sons, Rex, Roy, Rue, and daughter, Grace from former marriage. Both of Calvin’s parents were also born in New York.

Record of Deaths, Emmet County, Iowa p 9. Shows Hubbard, Calvin L., 52 years, Insurance Agent, Died Sept 4, 1903. born in New York and died in Estherville, Iowa, of a stroke. Buried in Ruthven, Iowa.

From the “Palo Alto Reporter”:
“Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Phoenix and Miss Minnie Phoenix were called to Estherville Saturday by the death of C. Hubbard, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Phoenix. Mr Hubbard formerly lived in Ruthven and will be remembered by many of the citizens of that place. He died quite suddenly.”

On 1 Sep 1872 when Calvin Licurgis was 21, he first married Clarissa Jane “Jennie” SHERMAN, daughter of Daniel SHERMAN, M & Elizabeth, in Circuit Court, Clay County, Iowa. Born on 19 Nov 1845 in Michigan. Clarissa Jane “Jennie” died in Rudd, Floyd County, Iowa., on 4 Dec 1884; she was 39.
