Charles A. Hibner, 86, of Charles City died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Floyd County Medical Center, Charles City.

Funeral services for Charles Hibner will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, with Pastor Ruth Yeaton of First Baptist Church officiating.

Friends may call 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City. Visitation will continue Saturday at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.

Charles A. Hibner, 86, of Charles City, was reunited with his loving wife of over 60 years, Beverly. He passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Charles Hibner will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, with Pastor Ruth Yeaton of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City. Visitation will continue Saturday at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.

Charles Alfred Hibner was born on June 26, 1925, in Marble Rock, the son of Frank and June (Smith) Hibner. He attended rural country school and then Marble Rock High School. He was inducted into the United States Navy in the 12th grade. On May 18, 1945, he was honorably discharged as an Electrician's Mate Third Class.

On March 7, 1948, he was united in marriage to Beverly Loomis at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed and raised livestock near Charles City. Charles retired from White Farm after 30 years. He was a member of the U.A.W. 1315 and served as the Chief Steward for many years. He was a founding member, and board member of the Labor Council Credit Union.

Charles was proud of the pond and house he built, and in later years the second house he built for Diane. Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards with family, and attending bluegrass. Much of his days were spent gardening and selling his produce at Farmer's Market. Providing for and supporting his family was very important to him. He was always very proud of his daughter and granddaughter, and he enjoyed all their time spent together.

Charles was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, V.F.W., Charles City Senior Citizens, U.A.W. 1315, and Farmer's Market.

Living family members include a daughter, Diane (Aaron) Hobert of Charles City; a granddaughter, Sarah Shearman of Des Moines; a brother, Don (Doris) Hibner of Charles City; two sisters, Fern (Vern) Kramer of Charles City, and Marian Hahn of St. Petersburg, Florida; cousin, Jim Hibner of Ames; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Beverly in 2010; three brothers, Leo Hibner, Duane Hibner, and Donovan Hansen.
