Merlin J. Hillman

Merlin J. Hillman, 86, Zellwood, Florida, passed away January 13, 1994, at Apopka Community Hospital, Apopka, Florida.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 17, 1994 at Dunn’s Funeral Home with burial in a Masonic Cemetery.

Merlin Hillman was born in Rockford. The family moved to Des Moines in 1946, later moving to Palo Alto, California. He was a manager of construction with Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Company.

He was an active member of the Rolling Hills Community Church Zellwood, Florida; Red Caps Service Club, Zellwood, Florida; Masons, Consistory, Shrine, Jesters, Hi Twelve Club, all of Des Moines; ATO Alumni Association of Des Moines; Iowa State University Alumni Association; Des Moines Engineers Club and Sertoma Club of Des Moines.

He is survived by his wife, Lurleen Hillman of Zellwood, Florida; one son, Dr. Mark Hillman, Des Moines; two step-sons, Charles W. Iles of Des Moines and John W. Iles, Clear Lake; one step-daughter, Denise Erickson of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
