Dorothy A. French

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel in Nora Springs for Dorothy A. French, 77, who died Sunday, September 25, 1994, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center east. Rev. Richard Pippert of the Nora Springs United Methodist Church officiated, and burial was in Park Cemetery.

Dorothy A. French was born December 24, 1916, at Rantoulle, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Bess (Ayers) Hubbard. She married John French on October 16, 1937, at Mason City.

At the age of 16, she and her family had moved to Mason City, where she graduated from Mason City High School in 1935. She worked as a bookkeeper for Pioneer Federal Savings and Loan for seven years, and then was office manager at Midwest Roofing for 15 years. She and her husband moved to Nora Springs in 1971.

She enjoyed golfing and playing cards. She was a member of the Nora Springs United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, John French, of Nora Springs; one son, Robert French and wife, Vicki, Mason City; two daughters-in-law, Nicki French, Nora Springs and Joyce Ennis, Mason City; seven grandchildren; Robbie and Elizabeth French, both of Mason City; Tammy Portis, Nora Springs; Angela Creighton, Clear Lake; Kerry Johnson, Rockford; and Chad and Heather French, both of Mason City; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sons, Raymond and Richard French.
