Mrs. Syver Hermansen Klemesrud

Gjertrud S. Andersdatter was born probably January 24, 1824 at Prestegaarden, Valdres, Hedalen, Oppland, Norway, although the 1900 census says she was born May 1835.

Gjertrud married Syver Hermansen Klemesrud (Klemetsrud) 1856 at Oppland, Norway. They had at least one child: Herman Syverson Klemesrud (born October 27, 1858 Oppland, Norway, married Inger Marie Rustad 1904 at RCLC, Cedar, Iowa, died April 26, 1939 Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa.)

The couple and their son emigrated to the United States about 1881 and settled on farmland at Rock Grove Township, Floyd County, Iowa.

Found Gjertrude in the 1885, 1900 and 1905 censuses at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa:

1885: Ceven (Syver) H. Klemsind 36 (wrong, should be 56), Gertrude Klemsind 60, Hermen C. Klemsind 26, Andrew C Klemsind 23, Carry (Carrie) C. Klemsind 27.

1900: Herman Klemesrud 32, Jennie (Gjertrud) Klemesrud 65, Carrie Klemesrud 30, Andrew Klemesrud 28; says she was born May 1835 which conflicts with other informations found.

The family belonged to the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Gjertrude died May 14, 1912 at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa. She is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
