Date Of Death: February 08, 2012Sylvia Steinberg, 94 of Charles City died Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Floyd County Medical Center, Charles City. Graveside services will be held at Beckwith Cemetery Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
Sylvia Bertha Fenneman Steinberg was born December 21, 1917, the daughter of Herman and Rosa (Wedeking) Fenneman in rural Butler County. She attended rural country schools near Clarksville. On May 16, 1940, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, she was united in marriage to Louis Steinberg. To this union, five children were born. Sylvia enjoyed going to auctions, gardening flowers and vegetables, and crocheting.
Living family members include three daughters, Evelyn Fisher of Nashua, JoAnn (Charles) Tobin of Floyd, Bernita (David) Koestner of Webster City; a son, Bernard (Deb) Steinberg of Charles City; six grandchildren, Jon Fisher, Randy Fisher, Mike Tobin, Ed Tobin, Talena Mayfield, Jamie Steinberg; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1977; a son, Donald Steinberg; a brother, Herbert Fenneman; and two sisters, Fern Kreger and Hazel Becker.
