FUNERAL HELD MONDAY FOR RUDD PIONEER, 87

Charles City, Iowa – Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Sheckler Funeral Home, Nora Springs, for Miles M. Fenn, 87, who died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Johnson, at Rudd.

He had been in poor health for some time but had not been bedfast. The Rev. R. N. Bell, Methodist Minister, officiated and burial was in the Rock Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Fenn came to Rudd from Wisconsin when a young man. He resided in the Rudd vicinity all his life except from 1928 to 1943 when he lived in Charles City, where at one time he served as a police officer. He farmed for many years near Rudd and at one time was janitor of the Rudd school.

Survivors include is daughter at Rudd and another daughter, Mrs. Elmer Stefan, Chicago, Illinois and four step-children; Frank Gallup, Nora Springs; Bill Gallup, Chicago; Mrs. C. J. Mathieson, Esterville; and Mrs. Helen Batdorf, Patten, Pennsylvania.

Miles Fenn was born November 1865 in Wisconsin (1900 Census). He married Jennie Mabel (nee Nelson) Gallup, the widow of William Henry Gallup (1862-1904).

Her first husband is buried in the Rudd Evergreen Cemetery, and listed as Henry Gallup 1862-1904.
