Donald Duesenberg, 87, of Charles City, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Donald Duesenberg will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Rudd United Methodist Church in Rudd. Pastors Jerry Avise-Rouse and Wendy Johannesen will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at the church Friday an hour prior to the service.

Donald Fredrick Duesenberg was born December 6, 1924, at Rockford, the son of Benjamin and Myrtle (Gauger) Duesenberg. He received his education at Council Bluffs. On June 14, 1953, he was united in marriage to Betty Fluhrer. They farmed all their lives near Rudd, retiring in Charles City. Donald was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church. His interests included playing basketball, putting puzzles together and traveling. Donald will always be remembered for his love of John Deere tractors.

Living family members include his wife, Betty Duesenberg of Charles City; a son, Russell Duesenberg of Long Beach, Calif; a daughter, Ruth (Dexter Alexander) Duesenberg of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a brother-in-law, Bill (Pat) Fluhrer of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
