JOSEPH SWARTZ KILLED IN FRANCE

On November 6, 1918, word was received of the death of Joseph Swartz, a former resident of Scott Township. Mr. Swartz was united in marriage to Miss Kyle of Greene, last year in October. When he was called to colors last May, Mrs. Swartz returned to her parental home to stay during her husband's absence.

Joe was born March 17, 1891. After being called, as one of Uncle Sam's boys, he spent about two months in training at Camp Dodge. From there he was sent to New York and thence to France. His death came as the result of pneumonia on October 6, 1918.
