Death: October 21, 2011Jim Zbornik, 67 of Charles City died Friday, October 21, 2011, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for Jim Zbornik will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor David Werges of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday an hour prior to the service.
Jim Joseph Zbornik was born November 30, 1943, in Florence, Ala., the son of Thomas and Frances (Salsbury) Zbornik. He graduated from Saint John's Military Academy in 1961 and later received his Bachelors Degree in Biology from Augustana College. Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. After his discharge Jim was employed as the Southeast Territorial Sales Manager for Salsbury Laboratories. He was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and V.F.W. His interests included deep sea fishing, farming and traveling.
Living family members include two daughters, Erica Zbornik of Indiana and Alisa Zbornik of Charles City; a sister, Tiena (Jerry) Zbornik of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Tom Zbornik of Evanston, Wyo.; and a niece, Tayler Zbornik of Alpine, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and paternal and maternal grandparents.
