Dolores Jean Moore was born February 20, 1934, in Rudd. She was the daughter of Homer and Irene (Rolfes) Moore. She received her education and graduated from Rudd High School. While in high school, she was elected the Band Queen and was later Miss Rudd in 1952. Dolores was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Russell Larson on August 17, 1952, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua; to this union four children were born. Dolores was a homemaker for most of her life. She was the bookkeeper for Rudd Oil Company for several years until retirement.

In Dolores’ youth she collected movie posters, her favorite being Elizabeth Taylor. She was an avid doll collector and proudly displayed her collection in a cabinet made by her husband. She later became known as “The Doll Lady” after starting a doll hospital where she would repair, paint, and sew dresses for dolls. Dolores was very musically talented. She played the clarinet, guitar and piano. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Her favorite treats to make were her famous popcorn balls for Halloween, and the “Larson Punch” that she served in her ruby red glassware. Her homemade chicken noodles, pecan pie and fried chicken were always a hit.

Dolores loved being a mother and grandmother, and her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed shopping, antiquing, and camping. She also enjoyed her longtime friendships with Delores Fike and Barb Shipman. Dolores was a lifelong member of the Rudd United Methodist Church, where she was active in the church choir and the Naomi Circle.

Dolores is survived by her husband of 59 years Russell Larson, Rudd, children Dana (Janelle Howe) Larson, Rudd, Daryl (Jane Ausen) Larson, Nora Springs, DeeAnn (Gary) Ewen; Dougherty, David Larson, Osage; grandchildren Eric Larson, Nora Springs, Denver Larson, Rudd, Chelsea Ewen, Tripoli, Laura (Aaron) Cunningham, Nora Springs; brothers Leland (Sandra) Moore, Rudd, Larry Moore, Rudd, brothers and sisters-in-law Loren (Altje) Larson, Osage, Phyllis (James) Gunsallus, Osage, Marvin (Jannis) Larson, Rudd; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
