CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home for David Otto Shannon, 79, of 905 Grand Avenue, who died Monday afternoon at the Charles City rest home. On March 18 he suffered a severe stroke. Burial in Riverside Cemetery.

He was formerly a street commissioner for Charles City and was fire chief from 1929 to 1930.

Survivors include his wife; one step-daughter, Marie Nelson, Charles City; one sister, Mrs. Warren Lane, Charles City.

Dies at 79;
Rites Thursday

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home for David Otto Shannon, 79. He died Monday afternoon at the Charles City Rest Home, where he had been a patient five days. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Born in Floyd County, March 2, 1889, he was the son of Ami and Belle McRoberts Shannon.

May 14, 1937, in Mitchell, South Dakota, he was married to Frances Brandt. He was formerly a street commissioner for Charles City and was fire chief from 1929-1930. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Survivors include his wife; a step-daughter, Marie Nelson, Charles City, and a sister, Mrs. Warren Lane, Charles City.
