JOHN VIRGIL REIS

Funeral services for John Virgil Reis, 66, of Charles City are Wednesday, December 12, 1984, at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. He died Sunday, December 9 of a heart attack at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Edward Shields will officiate at the service with burial in the Calvary Cemetery with the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and World War I veterans performing military rites.

He was born July 21, 1918 in Marble Rock to John J. and Josephine A. Gerhard Reis. He received his education at Roseville School.

He was united in marriage to Thelma Jacobson in Charles City on August 10, 1940. He was employed in the city of Charles City, working at the Pollution Control Plant for 21 years.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Knights of Columbus, Floyd Lions Club, American Legion and Moose Lodge. He was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma; four daughters, Mrs. Mike (Virgene) Burkhardt of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Mrs. Harry (Cheryl) Gingeresky of San Jose, California; Mrs. Barbara Fuehrer of Charles City and Mrs. Kevin (Carmen) Weiss of Nashua; one son, Dennis of Iowa City; three sisters, Mrs. John (Theresa) Kramer of Rockford and Mrs. Magdaline Greiner and Mrs. Kathryn Greiner, both of Reinbeck and two brothers, Lewis of Osage and Earl of Charles City.
