FLOYD, IOWA — Randall L. Hoy, 49, a resident of 810 Pearl Street, Floyd, died Friday (Jan. 16, 2004) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services for “Randy” Hoy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. The Rev. Solomon Odoom will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Randall “Randy” Lee Hoy was born November 9, 1954 in Charles City, the son of Donald, Sr., and Dorothy (Nordman) Hoy. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1974, and on July 13, 1974, he was united in marriage to Gayle Tack at the Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd.

Randy worked for Gil White Plumbing and Heating, and later for Iowa Mold Tooling Co. in Garner as a certified welder, and also in the research and development department. In 1988, Randy started Hoy’s Tin Shed in Floyd. Early on Randy refinished furniture and then worked mainly on the crafts circuit with his woodworking for the past 15 years.

Randy was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd, and was a past member of the Floyd Lion’s Club.

Randy enjoyed woodworking and camping trips with his family, and in his younger years enjoyed snowmobiling and was proud of restoring his 1969 Cougar.

Randy always loved to share his new projects with his family, and the time spent with them and his dog, Lucy, were always most important.

Randy is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Gayle of Floyd; his son Eric (Michelle) Hoy of Ionia; his daughter, Melinda Hoy and friend, Jamie Cook, of Floyd; his son, Philip Hoy and friend, Jessica Ayers, of Floyd; his brothers, Dennis (Gretchen) Hoy of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Don (Jackie) Hoy, Jr., of Charles City; his parents-in-law, Galen and Fern Tack of Floyd; his sisters-in-law, Jan (Ron) Tjaden of Floyd and Donna (Allen) Ricks of Hudson; and his nieces and nephews, Kira, Daniel, and Kevin Hoy of Grand Prairie, Texas, Shannon Hoy of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer Hoy of Port Orchard, Wash., Kelly Caster and family of Charles City, Renee (Scott) Kramer and family of Garner, and Sarah Ricks of Des Moines; and his special dog companion, Lucy.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
