Timothy J. "Tim" Sullivan, 85, of Charles City, died Saturday morning, August 13, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

A funeral Mass for Timothy Sullivan will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to service time Monday at the church.

Timothy Joseph Sullivan was born March 4, 1926, in New Hampton, the son of Raymond J. and Nora (McAloon) Sullivan. He graduated from the New Hampton High School and University of Iowa. Tim proudly served two years in the Army Air Force during World War II.

On July 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to Letty Ardery in Iowa City. Tim was self-employed, operating Sullivan Insurance Agency for over 30 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club and various insurance associations and boards. His interests included camping, golf, pheasant hunting, the Iowa Hawkeyes, reading mystery and history books, researching his Irish ancestry, dancing and watching Lawrence Welk. Tim will be remembered for his strong faith and his devotion to prayer and family.

Living family members include his wife of 63 years, Letty Sullivan of Charles City; two children, Jayne (Tom) Holmstrom of Stillwater, Minn. and David (Cindy) Sullivan of Urbandale; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Rebecca Jane Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Chapel Ln. Charles City, IA 50616.
