FORT WORTH, Texas — Charles W. "Til" Thelen, 85, passed away Monday (Jan. 17, 2005) in Fort Worth, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Congregational Church.
Charles W. "Til" Thelen was born in Charles City on June 15, 1919, to Fred and Mabel Thelen. He came to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1942 to work as a technical writer and editor for Consolidated Aircraft, now known as Lockheed. He retired from General Dynamics in 1976.
Til was a member and past president on the national Society of Technical Writers and Publishers. He belonged to Squaw Creek Golf Club and was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Jim, Dale, Ward, Morris, Eldon and Almon.
He is survived by Letitia Fleming Thelen, his wife of 61 years; his daughter, Linda Bavousett of Fort Worth; his son, Gregory of Austin; grandchildren, Sean and Erin, and their mother, Kathleen Thelen of Austin; many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss his gentle nature and sense of humor.
