Jack E. Shinn 1916-2000

EVANSDALE, IOWA -- Jack E. Shinn, 83, of 226 Feldt Avenue, Evansdale, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at his home of leukemia.

He was born September 3, 1916, in Mason City, son of Edward and Clara Ryan Shinn. He married Helen M. Roggemann September 8, 1936, in Mason City.

He was employed with McCoy Truck Lines and Briggs Transportation as a truck driver for 41 years, retiring in 1976.

Survivors include his wife; seven grandchildren, Richard and Laura Means of Redmond, Utah, Ronald and Samantha Means of Redmond, Utah, Vicki and Louis Perret of Leesburg, Virginia, Joshua and Gillian Lederman of Davenport, David and Amy Lederman of Waterloo, Jacob Lederman of Des Moines and Daniel Lederman of Council Bluffs; 12 great-grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Deloss Baker of Mason City.

He is preceded in death by three daughters, Clara Mae in infancy, Jacqueline Means in 1992 and Barbara Lederman in 1998; two brothers, Jim and Steven Shinn; a stepbrother, Dwight Baker; and a sister, Evelyn in infancy.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Park Cemetery in Nora Springs. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice.
