MARBLE ROCK - Funeral services for Lloyd W. Reed, 73, of 1710 Aureola Drive, Marble Rock, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Faith Baptist Church, 1807 S. Kentucky Ave., Mason City, with Pastor Miles Grismore and Pastor Mark Rotramel officiating. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery in Marble Rock.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Lloyd Wilson Reed was born March 27, 1929, in rural Marble Rock, a son of Clifford Lynn and Wilma Maude (Wilson) Reed and was ushered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Saturday (July 13, 2002) at his home in Marble Rock.

He received his education and graduated from the Marble Rock High School in 1947. He attended the Winnebago Boy Scout Camp in Clear Lake and earned the Eagle Scout Award. It was at the Boy Scout Camp that he was convinced of his need of the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He confessed that he was a sinner and asked Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Savior at the Bethel Baptist Church in Marble Rock. His grandfather was a faithful Christian and had a Godly influence on his life.

In 1949 he was united in marriage to Mary Griswold. Three daughters were born to this union, Wilma, Beth, and Donna. Lloyd and his wife farmed in the Marble Rock area until his retirement in 1991 when they moved to their present home west of Marble Rock. They enjoyed traveling and seeing God's beautiful creations.

Lloyd faithfully served his Lord for many years. One of the things he enjoyed was working with the teen-age young people in his church. He taught Sunday School class and also was a leader in the youth group. His desire was to see the young people give their lives to the Lord and live for Him.

In 1979 he started doing volunteer work during the winter months at the Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, Texas. He served there faithfully until his health prevented him from doing physical work.

His grandchildren were a joy to him. He enjoyed doing things with them, camping, woodworking, caring for the yard, target practicing and gun safety. He lived to visit them and hear about the things they were doing and the things they were interested in.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary of Marble Rock; three daughters, Wilma Traeger and her husband, Ernie, of Havana, Ill., Beth Ott and husband, Dave, of Marble Rock, and Donna Hart and her husband, Wayne, of Xenia, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Heidi Traeger Smith and her husband, Jeff Smith, Holly Traeger Parmerlee and her husband, Matt Parmerlee, Mark Traeger, Matt Traeger, Amy Ott, Nathan Ott and his wife, Carrie Ott, Kevin Ott, Cory Ott, Joel Hart and his fiancee, Carrie Harris, Aaron Hart, Jason Hart, and two who called him Grandpa, Matt and A.J. Losee, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Catherine Woodruff.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Lloyd W. Reed Memorial Fund in care of the family.
