MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - Doris B. Enabnit, 91, of 403 N. Main St., Marble Rock, died Saturday (May 11, 2002) at the Liebe Care Center in Greene.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock, with the Rev. Carroll Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel, 423 Bradford St., Marble Rock, and will continue one hour before the service at the church.
Doris Belle Vorhes was born Aug. 5, 1910, in Union Township, Floyd County, a daughter of Ross and Maude (Parcher) Vorhes; and died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Liebe Care Center in Greene where she had been a resident for a short time.
She received her education in country school and graduated from the Marble Rock High School in 1925. She was united in marriage to Edward O. Enabnit on June 12, 1928, in Marble Rock. They made their home in Marble Rock until 1948 when they moved to their newly built home on a farm two miles west of Marble Rock in 1972. Following Mr. Enabnit's death on Sept. 11, 1976, she continued to make her home in Marble Rock until moving to Port Charles assisted living in Charles City.
Doris will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who provided her family with her cooking, baking, and the home-made quilts she made for each of her grandchildren. Christmas was very special when everyone would gather at her home. She enjoyed flower gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and other card games.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, chairman of the church memorial committee, member of the Hillside Cemetery Board , and City Park Board.
Living family members include her five sons and their spouses: Ross and Darlene Enabnit, Bob Enabnit, Arlin and Marilyn Enabnit, Duane and Marjorie Enabnit, all of Marble Rock, Lyle and Mary Enabnit, of Prairie Du Chien, Wis.; 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grand children who include: Paula and Stan Kingery and their children, Kristen and Alicia; Kendall and Sheila Enabnit and their children, Samantha, Ashley and Rachael; Mark and Pat Enabnit and their children, Jessica, Erin, and Katy; Monica and Curtis Christopherson and their children, Amy, Tyler, and Travis; Melinda and Mike Kubik and their daughter, Megan; Marvin and Liz Enabnit and their children, Dustin and Paige; Michelle and Stacy Jones and their childr€en, Corey and Jenny; Brenda and Steve Watters and their children, Jesse and Jake; Sandra and Rob Robinson and their children, Matthew, Mikki, and Toni; Michael and Lisa Enabnit; Julie Schroder and her children, Dexter and Tricia; Joel and Wanita Enabnit and their children, Wesley and Wendy; Janella Wood and her children, Nicholas and Nathan; Jena and Rudy Mansfield and their children, Walker and Tate. She is also survived by a sister-in law, Irene Vorhes, of Marble Rock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her brother, Vern Vorhes.
