Ronald L. Bertram (1964-2010)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA — Ronald Lee Bertram, 46, of Sheffield, formerly of Cedar Falls, died at home Monday, December 13, 2010.

He was born on November 11, 1964, in Charles City, son of Robert and Della Hughes Bertram.

Mr. Bertram attended schools in Greene, Cresco and Cedar Falls, and continued his education at Hawkeye Institute of Technology, Waterloo, earning a degree in aviation mechanics. He received basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and advanced training in helicopter mechanics at Fort Rucker in Alabama. He served in the National Guard, stationed in Alaska. Most recently he attended DMACC, earning his degree in tool and die. He worked at Farm Services in Coulter and most recently IMT in Garner.

Survived by: his father of Janesville; two sisters, Diane (Doug) Miller of Greene and Sally (Jim) Kalvig of Ionia; a brother, Douglas of Clarksville; nine nephews, Tony (Stacy) Miller, Marty (Jesse) Miller, Jeremy Miller, Jesse (Casey) Miller, Kelly Miller, Garrett Kalvig, Dillon Kalvig, Cory and Cody Bertram; three great-nephews; four great-nieces; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by: his mother; maternal grandparents, Jesse and Artie Hughes; paternal grandparents, August and Minnie Bertram; and a special friend, Shelda Miller.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, rural Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 Honor Guard. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Ronald enjoyed his cats, and working on cars and motorcycles.
